Our Opportunity

For years, The Opening represented a milestone for the country's most elite high school football players. First introduced by Nike in 2011, the invite-only competition became one of the most coveted stages in high school football, with alumni including Saquon Barkley, Ja'Marr Chase, Derrick Henry, Kyler Murray and hundreds more who would go on to play in the NFL.

After a seven-year hiatus, Nike brought it back.

The 2026 journey began with regional competitions across the country before 120 of the nation's best high school football players earned an invitation to Nike World Headquarters in Beaverton for The Opening Finals.

Our opportunity was bigger than bringing back an iconic competition. It was about reintroducing The Opening for a new generation and reminding athletes why earning an invitation to Beaverton means something.

This wasn't just another football camp.

This was their first opportunity to experience what it feels like to be a Nike athlete.

Our Solution

For three days, Nike's Philip H. Knight Campus became the ultimate proving ground for the future of football, combining elite competition with unprecedented access to Nike, its athletes and the culture surrounding the game.

The country's top prospects competed through position-specific training, one-on-ones, performance challenges and seven-on-seven play, ultimately battling for regional bragging rights and The Opening championship.

But what happened between the competition mattered just as much.

Athletes were given access to parts of the Nike athlete experience few people ever see, including tours of the coveted Room 72, where Nike's professional athletes are styled and serviced with product on campus.

The Opening's past was brought face-to-face with its future through the inaugural Hall of Fame celebration. Legendary alumni returned to Beaverton to be recognized for what they had accomplished since competing at The Opening, giving the 2026 class a glimpse at exactly where this stage could lead.

The Pivot brought the stories to life through conversations with athletes and football icons, while Jerry Rice joined the experience to share perspective from one of the greatest careers in the history of the game.

And The Opening wasn't all business.

Night one shifted from competition to celebration with a live performance from BossMan Dlow, giving 120 teenagers who had spent the day proving themselves on the field a chance to simply enjoy having made it there.

Then it was back to football.

The Finals culminated in an intense seven-on-seven tournament, with the West ultimately taking the 2026 title and the final competition reaching a national audience through ESPN's SportsCenter NEXT.

Our Outcome

The Opening returned with more than a new class of athletes. It reestablished one of Nike Football's most powerful pipelines to the future of the sport.

Eleven athletes left Beaverton with new Nike NIL deals, turning an invitation to compete into the beginning of a relationship with the brand.

The West left as champions.

A new Hall of Fame connected The Opening's legendary alumni with the athletes following in their footsteps.

And 120 of the country's best high school football players left Nike World Headquarters having experienced something few athletes their age ever have: what it feels like to be welcomed into the Nike athlete family.

The numbers behind The Opening's legacy are already remarkable: more than 400 alumni have gone on to be drafted into the NFL, including nearly 100 first-round selections.

The 2026 Finals weren't simply about celebrating that history.

They were about finding who's next.
